I think your post says it all - expect the refs to throw it for Kobe tonight. And if the Nuggets win, expect David Stern to announce that the Western Conference Finals is now a 9-game series.

That was another terrific game last night. Every one of the Eastern Conference Finals games have been really close and really entertaining so far.

I think the Magic are for real. They play solid D, and force other teams to pack it in against Howard and then can kick it out to excellent jump shooters like Rashard and Hedo.

Man, I hope the conspiracy theories aren't real. But it's a problem for the league that so many of us think they could be.

Of course Orlando is legit. I didn't see the game yesterday but they're closer than anyone to the championship. They certainly don't play like most title-winning teams but they've won too many playoff games not to be taken seriously. And while LeBron's getting his points, they have managed to keep him somewhat in check, which no one else has done. Their shooters have to keep knocking down shots down the stretch, of course, and the chance that they won't do that is probably what makes them look like they're less dangerous than they really are.

I actually agree that the Magic are legit because they have great outside scorers and a huge presence in the middle. Teams have gone all the way with less talent. But there is part of me that can't buy into a team that give p.t. to Tony Battie.

I think the series goes to show that the Cavs are basically LeBron and the 11 Dwarfs. He is scoring a ton of points, but the team is still losing because no one else is coming through. All of which leads me to think that he will be bolting Cleveland for NYC at the first possible opportunity . . .

All right, class, what kind of things do we look for in an NBA draftee? A player who's proven, or one with oodles of upside? A guy coming off a spectacular college career, or one coming off the bench for his Serbian club team? A player who's shown constant improvement, or one who mysteriously fared worse as a senior than a junior? Who cares?

So we finally got done with the NBA playoffs after nearly two months of stretched-out play, and tomorrow's the draft. I really couldn't care less. I'm so burned out on the sport. Sadly, there's nothing else going on worth mentioning, so we might as well get into it. (Yes, baseball, Pugs, but I haven't really started following that this year yet, sorry.) Would the NFL hold its draft five days after the Super Bowl? Of course not, and not just because the league doesn't want to distract from the highlight of its annual calendar, the Pro Bowl. Of course, the NBA's situation is a little different. College play ended two and a half months ago, and the teams want to get draftees ready for the all-important summer league play (because the kind of guys that need the summer league always end up players).
