Hallelujah. Five years. Saw it on ESPN.com, which cites a Denver Post report. To me, this was the biggest question mark of our offseason, and it’s already taken care of. I’m very pleased to see ownership and management step up like this.
I was relieved to see that the Nuggets signed the Bird, but I would like to see them go get another piece. The Nuggets' main competition in the West (L.A. and San Antonio) have improved their teams while the Nuggets seem to be content with status quo. I don't think we can beat L.A. without getting another low-post player.
A role player??!? OK, you're right, Birdman fills a niche, but this league is so short on quality big man that he becomes very important.
LT, you'd think he'll pay for himself in Birdman T-shirts.
Blaine, the Lakers are better because they got Ron Artest? I guess so. To me he's worth less to them than to any other team in the league since he can't guard Kobe now. Nike seizing the tapes of LeBron getting dunked on is child's play compared to the Lakers signing Artest to keep him "away" from Kobe.
The Spurs should be better with Richard Jefferson, but if they'd had Jefferson but no Ginobili this playoffs I'm not sure that would have made them title contenders. So they have to be healthier than they just were, too. Also, as sad as it makes me, Tim Duncan is getting older (though if you've checked his stats and seen him technically scoring under 20 points per game each of the last four years, you already knew that).
All of that aside, after the loss of Jones I think I agree. I'm not sure we HAVE to get a post player but we could use another reliable guy.
Don't forget the Spurs also signed McDyess this week. I agree that they need to be healthy, but if they are come playoff time next year they will be pretty tough to beat.
As Shania Twain once said, "that don't impress me much." You know, after playing 13 years in the league (as many as Jordan had with the Bulls), I am starting to think the "next Karl Malone" may not live up to his billing. Just a thought. McDyess matched up with Duncan is a funny thought, as they are both immense physical talents whose careers went basically in opposite directions, though if I'd gone through half the knee pain that McDyess has in his life I'd be begging for amputation.

I agree completely. It is weird to say of a role player, but Birdman seemed irreplacable.
Once you've seen the reaction in the stadium to this guy, there's no way you wouldn't resign him.
